What is the inspiration behind Roasting Dubs Smoking Bowls?
Roasting Dubs Smoking Buds is simply a bunch of homies chilling after a shred sesh. The crew and I were hanging after a BMX ride, smoking and roasting some dubs on the trails. My homie, Carter, casually said to us “just another day roasting dubs and smoking bubs.” It was a simple thought, but it meant so much more. It was the idea of riding the wave of life with your friends. The small things in life that create greater connections. I took the saying and ran with it.
What is the inspiration behind Old Souls Ripping Bowls?
Old Souls Ripping Bowls stems off of Roasting Dubs Smoking Buds. I wanted to capture the skate side. My homies, Dylan and Carter, helped me create more of a toking saying for the design. It was Chris Sellers who brought it to life with a skeleton dude hitting a pool with a blunt hanging out of his mouth. I’m so stoked with how it turned out.
Why Chris Sellers?
Chris Sellers is a Tampa, Florida-based artist. His work and skills are so expansive. I connected with him through a buddy of mine, also based down in Florida. There’s an amazing community of young artists over there. It’s incredible. Bringing even a slither of that talent to Blaize Culture has been an honor.
What has the reaction been like around the collabs?
Both Roasting Dubs Smoking Buds and Old Souls Ripping Bowls have been the most successful collaborations to date. They were the first collabs we really got to do here, and it’s exciting to see them grow into core products for Blaize Culture. We’ve had amazing success with both designs in our stockist stores, especially down in Sarasota, Florida. I think both designs resonate with crews everywhere. Everyone can relate to the simple pleasure of chilling with the homies after a great shred sesh. It’s what Blaize Culture is all about: celebrating the culture.
