What is the inspiration behind Burnie BMX and Skate?
Burnie stems from our Space Sesh collab with Taterballz. Her first drawing of Burnie, seen on the Space Sesh design, was just the beginning. I wanted to give more life to him. I’ve always been massively inspired by Boxpalm, a BMX artist. His work played a huge part in the development of Burnie. Taterballz used her amazing talent to create the Burnie we now know. We placed him on a skateboard and BMX bike, and the rest is history.
What is the inspiration behind Checkered Flame?
The Checker Flame came in the Burnie package Taterballz created. She originally made it for Burnie to jump over. I loved the flame itself so much that I placed it on a tee alone. The Blaize Culture design with the BMX bike as the “T” on the back is also a Taterballz creation. Everything ties back to Burnie. It’s just one of my favorite collabs.
Why Taterballz?
Selena is a buddy of mine’s girlfriend. She’s an insanely talented artist. She has her own e-commerce space, Taterballz Shop, with sick accessories, prints, and apparel. Her art really connects to the psychedelic mind. I’m honored to of gotten to work with her on multiple collabs.
What has the reaction been like around the collab?
Burnie has become our Blaize Culture mascot. He represents the culture on all sides. Everyone loves him. We’ve created an entire collection around him. I think as time goes on, he’s going to become much more than he is now. I love that little guy and the culture is accepting him with open arms..
